Music Software - Finale Q&A
Friday June 13, 2025 2:30pm - 3:30pm PDT
Mike has, for years, been preparing arrangements for publication through BHS using Finale. He, like the rest of the Finale users, was very disappointed when it was announced that Finale would no longer be upgraded or supported -- even though there are many Finale users who do not plan to convert to another program (as long as the Finale they have takes care of their needs).
This class will be for Finale users (new or seasoned) who have questions to ask, or something new to learn.

On Saturday, Mike will be teaching 2 sessions on MuseScore (great support, it's FREE, and in a lot of ways, it's very intuitive).   You can download MuseScore at: https://musescore.org/en

Thematic Elements of BBS Arrangements
Friday June 13, 2025 2:30pm - 3:30pm PDT
Barbershop arrangers often feature strong thematic elements in their work: they can highlight melodic, harmonic, rhythmic, lyrical, or parodic devices. It may not always be practical to pigeon-hole an entire arrangement into one of these specific categories, but study of these elements is beneficial. In this course, students will explore numerous barbershop arrangements (visually and aurally), observing how arrangers highlight said elements in various ways. As such, students will learn about tools they can utilize in their own arranging work.
