What's Behind Powerful Performances

This class is also offered in Session 1.
We talk about trying to "connect with the audience" from the stage but what does that really mean? You know it when you feel it yet it's hard to describe what's actually happening in that magical moment. Explore the history of music and performance from the earliest human cultures through the lens of how it has shaped the way we connect as humans over the ages. Western science and thousands of years of religious traditions from all over the world have all demonstrated the benefits of singing together and for one another. Here, we will learn to amplify this power with breathwork, movement, meditation and playful dramatic exercises. Feel the difference for yourself as we build skills together to create powerful performances and even help us cultivate compassion as individuals and communities alike. Dress comfortably and be ready to let loose and have some fun a we learn and work together!

The Authentic Singing Improv Game

What is authenticity, anyway? In this class you’ll learn a framework for thinking about authentic performance behaviour and a game for practicing it. You’ll feel what it’s like to sing more authentically, get feedback from peers, and see other people try it out, too.

Learning Outcomes
-identify the three triangle points of paying attention
-learn the predictable results of being present in specific ways
-learn and practice an improv game to hone your authentic presence skills
