About me
Steve has been a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society since 1976, joining the Oshawa Horseless Carriagemen when he was just 13 years of age. He has directed several choruses in international competitions and after serving for 20 years as front line director of the Toronto Northern Lights chorus, he stepped down to associate director at the end of 2017. Under his direction the chorus won the 2013 International Chorus Championship as well as 5 silver medals and 8 bronze.
He has been a certified judge for since 1987, serving as Music Category Specialist from 2017-2019 and as SCJC Chair since 2020 and has served as a judge, coach or instructor in Sweden, Germany, The Netherlands, England, Spain, New Zealand and Australia in addition to North America. He is also an accomplished arranger and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of Toronto.
